Becoming an Overcomer

Pastor Adrian Rogers got it right when he said… Faith in faith is just positive thinking but faith in Jesus is salvation. Our world doesn’t lack faith. Our world has faith in its understanding, in its intellect, in its good works, in its knowledge, and in its self. So our world doesn’t only need faith… but it needs a specific faith. The Apostle John’s world was in a similar place and so he uses 1st John 5:1-5 to shows us where our faith needs to lie and the true spoils of Christ’s victory. LOVE And it is that widespread use and familiarity to our ears that can make understanding what genuine love actually is difficult. In our study this weekend The Apostle John gives us one of the clearest definitions of love that we have and it will change the way that we live once we see its greatness and superiority to the world’s version of love. How to Recognize God’s Voice

Confidence & Contentment of Christ

We have a world and we live lives that are looking for two things… confidence and contentment. Confidence in that we long for something and someone that we can truly count on and trust. Contentment in that we long to find rest for our souls and something that quenches our inner longings. As we turn to 1st John 3:19-24 we are reminded that these two longings of our heart are only found in Jesus and The Apostle John gives us a road map to forsake our conscience, and find confidence and contentment in Christ.

Your Heavenly Father Knows Best

As we turn to 1st John 3:4-10 this weekend John reminds us that each of us has a father. Now, John is not talking about our earthly fathers that we will celebrate in a few weeks. Rather John is talking about our spiritual father and we are each either a child of God or a child of the devil. And as Jesus showed Nicodemus in John chapter 3 John reminds us here that we are not born children of God by physical birth but only through the rebirth and renewal of the Holy Spirit. Join us this weekend to see the fruit that will be in the life of a reborn and restored child of God and contrast that with the fruit that defines our former father the devil.

Books upon books fill the shelves of our nation’s bookstores regarding these topics… but what is the truth? Join us as we turn to God’s Word to see what the truth is about these last days in which we live and the antichrist.

The Things That Will Not Pass

Every car has a check engine light. When your car’s check engine light is illuminated not only are you not having the best day but your car is not performing at its best. This weekend as we continue our study in 1st John in 2:12-17 John gives us a “check engine light” for our faith. Three things that we can be mindful of and on the watch for in our lives that can derail our faith. That at best keep our faiths from being all that they can be in Christ and at worst keep us from truly tasting of the goodness of our God.
