This weekend as we move into the penultimate week in our meant for good series we see the most tense family reunion of all the tense family reunions. Joseph is reunited with the brothers that beat him and sold him into slavery. Yet, contrary to what we would expect in a reunion like this… Joseph shows his betraying brothers, grace. He extends to them forgiveness and he seeks for them good and not revenge. The question is how did Joseph get here? Not reunited with his brothers but to a place where he forgives and shows great grace to his brothers. Join us as we turn to Genesis 45:3-11 for the answer and to prepare your heart for this study I invite you to read through Genesis 42-45 as we will study the events recorded in these chapters.

God Behind Bars

So far we have journeyed with Joseph from his home, to a distant country where his family threw him in a pit before selling him into slavery. We have witnessed him in slavery be “rewarded” for his good behavior with an unjust prison sentence and as we pick up his story in Genesis 40 things will not get any better. Joseph will continue to do good for others only to be “rewarded” by being forgotten by those who he did good for and two more years in prison. Amidst all this, our series reminds us that God is working good for all people… including Joseph… but that can be very hard to see amidst such dark circumstances. That’s why I invited you to join your church family this weekend to see how God uses even our darkest moment to not only perform His promises…. but to also pave the path for His promises as He prepares the person of His promises.

God with us

God is with us We most often hear this truth at Christmas when we remember Jesus’s coming to earth through His birth. But as we turn to Genesis 39 we see the truth that Jesus is not only with us in a stable in Bethlehem. That He is not only with us at Christmas. But he is with us always. That God’s presence is always with us and working amidst us and the work that God is always doing amidst is always good. Join us this weekend as we see this truth lived out through Joseph as he finds himself in slavery in Potipher’s house.

God’s Plan to Save Egypt

This is your invite to join your church family in hearing very strange words come out of a pastor’s mouth… what are those words? They are to NOT do what the Bible says. You read that right. This weekend we are going to be implored NOT to do what Genesis 37:12-36 says. Why? Because this is one of those instances where God’s Word accurately describes sinful humanity being sinful humanity. There is nothing good and thus nothing worth emulating in these events in the life of the first family of God. Yet… there is much to learn. So join your church family this weekend as we see that God will protect and provide for His promises… even amidst our sin and the consequences to those sins.

Through this series we will see how God works through even our suffering to bring about His GOOD plans for our lives through the living testimony of the life of Joseph. In our kickoff message we turn to Genesis 37:1-11 to see the family that God first called to be His people and to share His blessings with all people. The Purpose of The Holy Spirit

Last week we began our study of the Holy Spirit by looking at His purpose and nature. We saw that He is the third member of the Trinity with all-sufficient power and goodness. This week we will continue to survey the Word of God but with the goal of discovering the purpose and work of the Holy Spirit in our lives. We will seek to answer the question… what does the Holy Spirit do?
