Nations: Faith Produces Fruit

One of the more infamous moments in the life of Jesus is found in Mark 11:12-25 and will be our passage of study this weekend. It is when Jesus tore into the temple and toppled the tables of its traders. And it’s often used as a justification for anger. You have likely heard someone say “well Jesus got angry and toppled tables.” But what was behind Jesus’s toppling of tables? What was He trying to teach us? Those will be the questions that we will seek to answer this weekend as we close out our Neighbors & Nations series by seeing the way Jesus loved and calls us to love the nations.

Neighbors: The Trap of Anger

Do you realize that every day a trap is set for you? What is the trap? It is the trap of anger. Media. Social media. Politics. Leaders. Even faucets of the church breed anger so that they can feed on the power you give them by becoming angry. Many in our world want you to be angry so that you do what they desire. It is a trap that is set before us everyday and when we fall into it… we cease to love and live the way Jesus calls us to live. Join us this weekend as we turn to Mark 8:1-10 to see the driving force behind Jesus’s love and life… compassion and how real compassion exudes itself in actions of love for our neighbors.

As we begin the series we will look at Mark 5:21-43 to see the way that Jesus both looks at people and how that look that leads to love expresses itself. God is all-powerful

What good is even the power of God if we don’t know what effect it has on our lives? Join us this Easter as we dive into Romans 1:16-17 and Mark 10:46-52 to see two things. The power of God and then the effect the power of God has on the lives of those who put their faith in it.

A Love Great Enough to Change Me

It’s just a little bit. It is just a little white lie. It is only a small amount of money I kept for myself. Did you ever notice that sin always starts with that thought? It is just a little bit. But the thing is sin never stays just a little bit! It always grows and in the process we become and feel more cruddy as time goes on. But what if there was one that loved us in a way that didn’t leave us to our sin and wasn’t afraid of our cruddiness? What if He actually made us clean? In this week of our Christmas message series “Love Came Down” we are going to turn to Mark 5:21-43 to see that God’s love not only pursues us… but it pursues us to change us.

How do I avoid being a legalist?

Yet, it is so easy for us to allow our rules to get in the way of God’s plans. And when you do that, you have become a legalist. More importantly you have hindered the work of the King.
