The story of Exodus reveals how worldly leaders often act from fear and insecurity, while demonstrating God’s unchanging faithfulness. When a new Pharaoh arose who didn’t know Joseph, he saw the flourishing Israelites as a threat and attempted to suppress them through slavery and infanticide. Despite these oppressive measures, the Israelites continued to multiply because the midwives chose to fear God rather than man. This narrative teaches us that true freedom comes through fearing God rather than human authority, and that God’s kindness persists even during times of oppression.

Do you realize that every day a trap is set for you? What is the trap? It is the trap of anger. Media. Social media. Politics. Leaders. Even faucets of the church breed anger so that they can feed on the power you give them by becoming angry. Many in our world want you to be angry so that you do what they desire. It is a trap that is set before us everyday and when we fall into it… we cease to love and live the way Jesus calls us to live. Join us this weekend as we turn to Mark 8:1-10 to see the driving force behind Jesus’s love and life… compassion and how real compassion exudes itself in actions of love for our neighbors.

This weekend we kick off a brand new 3-part sermon series entitled Neighbors & Nations in which the goal will be to both see and love people as Jesus does. As we begin the series we will look at Mark 5:21-43 to see the way that Jesus both looks at people and how that look that leads to love expresses itself. Join your church family this weekend as our morning will be packed with life application!
